Christopher S. Tang
Prior to his appointment as Dean of NUS Business School in July 2002, Professor Christopher Tang was Senior Associate Dean, Chairman, and Carter Chaired Professor at the Anderson School, University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). He has served as the Director of the Executive Program, Director of US/China Exchange Program, co-chairman of the Decision Sciences Department, and Director of the Center for Technology Management at UCLA.
Prof. Tang received his B.Sc. with first class honors from King's College, University of London, and his M.A. and Ph.D. from Yale University. He has extensive teaching, research, and consulting experience in the areas of Supply Chain Management, Production and Inventory Management, and Service Management. He has received several awards including
the Neidorf "Decade" Teaching Award in 1999, UCLA Executive MBA Program Distinguished Teaching Award in 1998,
UCLA Citibank Distinguished Teaching Award in 1996, and UCLA Career Development Award in 1990. He has been the
Cycle and Carriage Visiting Professor and Shaw Visiting Professor at the National University of Singapore,
James Peters Research Fellow at UCLA, Senior Research Fellow at Stanford University, and
Senior Research Fellow at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Prof. Tang has published over forty research articles, one book, and several teaching cases. He is currently serving on the editorial boards of
Management Science, International Journal of Logistics, Technology and Operations Review, Manufacturing, Service and Operations
Management, and Asian Journal of Business and Information Systems. He has served on the editorial boards of
Operations Research, Industrial Engineering Transactions, Production and Operations
Management, and Annals of Operations Research.
Prof. Tang has conducted workshops for and advised clients at various companies including Amgen, Andersen Consulting, Bay Networks, Emerson Electric, Federal Reserve Bank, Hewlett Packard Company (worldwide locations), Honda America, Hughes Aircraft Company, IBM (worldwide locations), Information Technology Institute (Singapore), Nestlé, Johnson and Johnson, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Northrop-Grumman Corporation, and Orient Overseas Container Limited (Hong Kong).
